EDIT3: For anyone with similar issues. What solved the issue for me is unplugging all other USB devices. I haven't yet tested which one in particular is causing this but unplugging my mouse, keyboard and other usb controllers did the job. Also after that the controller works fine even if you plug the other devices back in. The only thing you can change is the controller mapping.
